Nanotechnology & Personalized Medicine 2026

Presenter: Osman Adiguzel
Affiliation: Firat University
Presentation Type: Keynote Presentation
Event: Materials and Nanotechnology Congress
Tittle: Dual memory characteristics and lattice reaction governing reversibility in shape memory alloys

🔬 Understanding Shape Memory Alloys

Shape Memory Alloys (SMAs) are advanced smart materials known for their remarkable ability to “remember” and recover their original shape. These adaptive structural materials exhibit dual memory characteristics:

• 🔄 Shape Memory Effect (SME)
•
⚡ Superelasticity

These properties allow materials to reversibly cycle between two different shapes under varying thermal and mechanical conditions.

🌡 Shape Memory Effect (Thermoelasticity)

The shape memory effect is driven by thermomechanical processes. When cooled and deformed, the alloy stores strain energy due to its softer low-temperature state. Upon heating, this stored energy is released, enabling the material to recover its original shape.

This process is governed by:

• 🧩 Thermal-induced martensitic transformation
•
💪 Stress-induced martensitic transformation
•
🔁 Lattice twinning and detwinning reactions

Atomic movements occur cooperatively along <110> directions on {110} close-packed planes of the austenite matrix, transforming ordered parent phases into twinned martensite structures.

⚙ Superelasticity (Mechanical Responsiveness)

Superelasticity occurs when stress is applied and released at constant temperature in the austenite phase region. Immediate shape recovery follows unloading, demonstrating elastic behavior.

While thermoelasticity is thermally responsive, superelasticity is mechanically responsive — both controlled by martensitic transformations and lattice invariant shears.

🧪 Copper-Based Alloys & Diffraction Studies

Copper-based alloys such as CuZnAl and CuAlMn exhibit this behavior within metastable β-phase regions (bcc-based structures). Their martensitic transformations generate layered structures described as 3R, 9R, or 18R stacking sequences.

Advanced X-ray and electron diffraction studies reveal:

• ✨ Superlattice reflections
• ⏳ Aging-dependent changes in peak intensities
•
🔄 Diffusive atomic redistribution at room temperature

These findings highlight the fundamental crystallographic mechanisms governing reversibility in smart materials.

2nd Edition of International Congress on Materials Science and Nanotechnology (M-Nano 2026)

Presenter: Paulo Cesar De Morais
Affiliation: Catholic University of Brasília
Event: 2nd Edition of International Congress on Materials Science andNanotechnology (M-Nano 2026)
Tittle: Cell viability assays under radiofrequency application modulated by nanomaterials
📅 Conference Dates: November 23–25, 2026
📍 Venue: Singapore & Online
🌐 Website: https://materials.miconferences.com/

🧪 Understanding the Research Focus

Nanomaterials are increasingly being explored as modulators of cancer therapies. When combined with external stimuli such as radiofrequency (RF), engineered nanocomposites may significantly enhance therapeutic efficacy while maintaining baseline biocompatibility.

This keynote explores how cell viability assays can quantitatively evaluate antitumor responses when nanomaterials are combined with RF exposure.

📊 Quantitative Modeling Approach

The presentation applies the Hill model to analyze cell viability data, enabling determination of:

  • Benchmark Dose (BMD)
  • Lethal Dose 50 (LD50)
  • Cooperativity coefficient (E)
  • Dissociation constant (K)

This mathematical framework provides deeper insight into dose–response relationships and nanomaterial-mediated cytotoxicity under RF stimulation.

🔬 Nanocomposite Strategy

Special emphasis is placed on graphene-based nanocomposites, particularly:

Graphene oxide (GO) functionalized with polyethyleneimine (PEI) and decorated with gold nanoparticles (GO-PEI-Au).

Tumor cell lines evaluated include:

  • LLC-WRC-256
  • B16-F10

Results demonstrate that while GO-PEI-Au exhibits relative biocompatibility in the absence of radiofrequency (nRF), the application of RF dramatically enhances cytotoxicity — increasing tumor cell death by orders of magnitude.

🌟 Key Takeaway

The synergistic combination of radiofrequency therapy with engineered nanomaterials represents a promising direction in cancer treatment.

RF-triggered enhancement of nanocomposite-mediated cytotoxicity supports future translational research, including validation in tumor-bearing animal models.

2nd Edition of International Congress on MaterialsScience and Nanotechnology (M-Nano 2026)

Presenter: Paulo Cesar De Morais
Tittle: Manipulating graphene quantum dots for oncological application
Affiliation: Catholic University of Brasília
Keynote Presentation(Virtual)
Event: 2nd Edition of International Congress on Materials Scienceand Nanotechnology (M-Nano 2026)

📅 Conference Dates: November 23–25, 2026
📍 Venue: Singapore & Online
🌐 Website: https://materials.miconferences.com/

🧪 Understanding the Innovation

Graphene quantum dots (GQDs) are zero-dimensional carbon nanomaterials known for their remarkable optical, electronic, and surface functionalization properties. They have gained attention in bioimaging, biosensing, and photothermal therapy. However, their application in photodynamic therapy (PDT) remains limited due to low singlet oxygen (¹O₂) quantum yield, poor solubility, and biocompatibility challenges.

🔬 The Scientific Breakthrough

In this keynote session, halogen-decorated graphene quantum dots (X@GQDs) are presented as an advanced nanoplatform for oncological applications.

Special focus is given to fluorine-doped graphene quantum dots (F@GQDs), engineered to enhance photodynamic performance.

Key features include:

  • Particle size below 3 nm
  • ~2% fluorine doping
  • Improved water solubility
  • Enhanced biocompatibility
  • Strong green fluorescence
  • Quantum yield slightly above 13%

Fluorine incorporation improves electronic transitions, enabling more efficient singlet oxygen generation — a critical parameter in effective PDT for cancer treatment.

🧫 Photodynamic Performance

In vitro bioassays confirm successful photodynamic activity under light activation. These findings demonstrate that F@GQDs hold strong potential as theranostic agents, combining imaging and therapeutic capabilities within a single nanoplatform.
