Title of Presentation:
🔬 Ternary nanocomposites for photocatalytic degradation of endocrine disruptors
Presenter:
🎤 Prof. Dr. Delia Teresa Sponza, Dokuz Eylul
University, Turkey
Presentation Type:
💻 Oral Virtual Presentation
🔑 Research Highlights
✔ Addressing Water Pollution: The removal of
toxic organic pollutants such as endocrine disruptors remains one of the
biggest environmental challenges.
✔ New Nanocomposites Developed:
Two-dimensional S-scheme heterojunction photocatalysts – Bi2O3/CdS and MoS2/Bi2O3/CdS – were successfully synthesized using a
solvothermal process.
✔ Characterization Techniques: The materials
were analyzed with XRD, SEM, XPS, HRTEM,
BET, and DRS, ensuring a complete understanding of their properties.
✔ Performance Results:
·
Bi2O3/CdS achieved
86% degradation efficiency.
·
MoS2/Bi2O3/CdS
achieved 99% degradation in just 120
minutes under visible light.
✔ Enhanced Mechanism: The outstanding
photocatalytic activity of MoS2/Bi2O3/CdS is linked to the S-scheme heterojunction, which promotes
charge separation and effective pollutant degradation.
