M-Nano 2026 – International Congress on Materials Science & Nanotechnology in Singapore
Speaker: Yarub Kahtan Al-Douri
Affiliation: European Academy of Sciences
Title : Nanotechnology overview
of engineering
Nanotechnology
has emerged as one of the most influential scientific fields, enabling
engineers and researchers to manipulate materials at the nanoscale to create
powerful solutions for global challenges. In this presentation, Professor Yarub
Kahtan Al-Douri provides an overview of how nanotechnology is transforming
engineering, energy systems, and environmental sustainability.
Understanding the Research Focus
Nanotechnology
enhances the electrical, mechanical, and chemical properties of materials. By
engineering nanomaterials with improved strength, durability, and activity,
scientists are developing innovative technologies capable of transforming how
energy is generated, transmitted, and stored.
Energy Innovation Through Nanotechnology
One of
the most exciting developments in nanotechnology is its role in renewable
energy. Scientists are developing thin-film solar cells that are
lightweight, flexible, and inexpensive to manufacture. These advanced solar
sheets can be integrated into wearable fabrics, portable devices, and building
windows to generate electricity in everyday environments.
Nanotechnology
also supports improvements in batteries, fuel cells, and hydrogen storage
systems, contributing to the development of efficient and sustainable energy
solutions.
Nanotechnology for Water Purification
In many
regions of the world, access to safe drinking water remains a serious
challenge. Nanotechnology offers a promising solution through nanofiber
water filtration systems capable of removing bacteria, viruses, heavy
metals, and organic contaminants. These filters are relatively affordable and
easy to deploy, making them valuable for communities lacking clean water
infrastructure.
Advanced Nanomaterials in Energy Systems
Nanomaterials
such as quantum dots and carbon nanotubes significantly enhance the
energy absorption capacity of solar cells. Additionally, nanostructured
catalysts improve the efficiency of fuel cells, while porous
nanomaterials enable effective hydrogen storage. These advancements
demonstrate how nanoscale engineering can significantly improve renewable energy
technologies.
Key Takeaway Strategy
Nanotechnology
offers innovative solutions for sustainable engineering by improving renewable
energy systems, enabling advanced materials, and supporting environmental
protection. Continued research in this field will play a crucial role in
addressing global energy demands and reducing the environmental impact of
modern technologies.
