2nd WorldCongress on Materials Science and Nanotechnology

Presenter: S V A R Sastry
Affiliation: Harcourt Butler Technical University
Mode of presentation: Poster(In-person)
Title : Nano lubricant Enhancement through Hydrothermal Synthesis of 2D Nanoparticles: A Pathway to Reduced Wear and Enhanced Efficiency

Understanding the Research Focus

This research explores the development of advanced lubricants using hydrothermally synthesized 2D nanomaterials. By incorporating nanoparticles such as ZnO, TiO₂, and iron-based materials, the study aims to reduce friction, minimize wear, and improve thermal stability in lubrication systems. The approach focuses on enhancing efficiency and durability in mechanical applications.

Quantitative Modeling Approach

The hydrothermal synthesis method enables precise control over nanoparticle properties through high-temperature and high-pressure reactions. This allows for uniform particle formation and improved dispersion within lubricant matrices. The resulting system demonstrates measurable improvements in tribological performance and thermal behavior.

Nanocomposite Lubricant System

The addition of 2D nanomaterials creates a nanocomposite lubricant that forms protective layers between moving surfaces. This reduces direct contact, lowers friction, and enhances overall system performance. Improved dispersion and surface functionalization ensure stability and long-term effectiveness.

Key Takeaway Strategy

Hydrothermal synthesis of 2D nanoparticles offers a promising pathway for developing next-generation lubricants. The approach significantly enhances efficiency, reduces wear, and improves sustainability in industrial and automotive applications.

Presenter:
Sachin Sharma Ashok Kumar
Affiliation: Lincoln University College
Presentation Type: Oral Presentation (Virtual)
Title : Effects of TiO2 nanoparticles on the adhesion and anticorrosion properties of the graphene-based composite coating on mild steel using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy approach

๐Ÿ”ฌ Understanding the Research Focus

Corrosion is one of the major challenges affecting the durability and performance of metallic materials in engineering applications. This research focuses on improving the anticorrosion performance of mild steel by developing graphene-based nanocomposite coatings enhanced with TiO₂ nanoparticles. By incorporating graphene and titanium dioxide nanoparticles into a polymer matrix, the study aims to create protective coatings that enhance adhesion, increase hydrophobicity, and provide long-term corrosion resistance for steel surfaces.

๐Ÿ“Š Quantitative Modeling Approach

To analyze the performance of the developed coatings, several experimental and analytical techniques were used. These include water contact angle (WCA) measurements to determine surface hydrophobicity, cross-hatch tests (CHT) to evaluate coating adhesion, field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) to observe surface morphology, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) to monitor corrosion resistance. The EIS results were recorded over a 30-day immersion period, enabling researchers to evaluate the long-term stability and protective behavior of the coatings.

๐Ÿงช Nanocomposite Coating Development

The study introduced TiO₂ nanoparticles in concentrations ranging from 0.5 wt.% to 3 wt.% into an acrylic-epoxy polymer matrix reinforced with graphene. The results showed that TiO₂ nanoparticles successfully bonded with graphene surfaces, improving the dispersion of the nanoparticles within the polymer matrix. As the TiO₂ concentration increased, the hydrophobicity of the coating also improved, reaching a maximum water contact angle of 120.85° at 3 wt.% TiO₂. The graphene/TiO₂ (1:1) composite system demonstrated the best dispersion and corrosion resistance performance.

๐ŸŽฏ Key Takeaway Strategy

The findings demonstrate that combining graphene with TiO₂ nanoparticles can significantly enhance the protective properties of polymer coatings on mild steel. The graphene/TiO₂ nanocomposite system exhibited excellent impedance modulus values exceeding 10¹⁰ ฮฉ cm², indicating strong resistance to corrosion. This approach shows great potential for industrial applications where durable and long-lasting anticorrosion coatings are essential.

Presenter: Habil Bernd Blobel
Affiliation: University of Regensburg
Title : Designing and Managing Integration and Interoperability of Intelligent and Ethical Ecosystems, Demonstrated for the Health Domain

Healthcare systems worldwide are transforming toward Personalized, Preventive, Predictive, Participative Precision Medicine (5PM). This innovative healthcare model focuses on understanding each individual’s genetic, environmental, and behavioral context to provide proactive and personalized care.

Understanding Healthcare Transformation

Modern healthcare is shifting from a reactive model to a proactive system. Instead of simply treating diseases, healthcare professionals are now focusing on predicting health risks and preventing illnesses before they occur. This transformation is driven by cutting-edge technologies and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Role of Emerging Technologies

Several advanced technologies support this transformation, including:

• Artificial Intelligence for clinical decision support
• Micro- and Nanotechnologies for precision treatments
• Advanced Computing and data analytics
• Robotics and autonomous medical systems
• Knowledge management systems for digital health records

While these innovations create powerful opportunities, they also introduce challenges related to ethics, security, and system governance.

Interoperability and System Integration

Healthcare ecosystems involve many different systems, stakeholders, and disciplines. Ensuring that these systems communicate effectively is critical for efficient healthcare delivery.

To address this challenge, the research introduces a system-theoretical, architecture-centric approach that enables interoperability across complex digital ecosystems. This approach ensures seamless communication between technologies, healthcare institutions, and scientific domains.

ISO 23903 Reference Architecture

The research has led to the development of the ISO 23903 Interoperability and Integration Reference Architecture. This framework provides a structured model for integrating diverse systems and enabling knowledge exchange across multiple domains.

The architecture has already been applied in several scientific fields, including medicine, environmental science, astrophysics, nanotechnology, and education.

Key Takeaways

The development of intelligent and ethical ecosystems will play a critical role in the future of healthcare. By combining technology, standardized architectures, and ethical governance, healthcare systems can become more efficient, collaborative, and patient-centered.
